This is a chance to see one of the Worlds Biggest Rock Stars up close and personal in a venue which only holds 400 people\, so this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to get real close to this rock legend. \nSTEVE HARRIS formed BRITISH LION to play in small venues\, as opposed to the large arenas typically played by IRON MAIDEN\, and as an outlet for shorter hard rock-oriented songs in which he can experiment with different bass guitar styles. The band also includes singer Richard Taylor\, guitarists David Hawkins and Grahame Leslie\, and drummer Simon Dawson. Harris had first met Leslie in the early 1990s after Leslie sent him a demo tape\, and Harris mentored the careers of Leslie and Taylor for several years until deciding to include them in the BRITISH LION project. \nBRITISH LION tours are typically scheduled around IRON MAIDEN tours\, when Harris becomes interested in playing in clubs and theatres as he did in IRON MAIDEN’s early years. \n\nThe album BRITISH LION\, released in 2012\, was marketed as a solo album by Harris with the other musicians described as his backing band. The project was then re-positioned as a self-contained band with most songs written by Harris\, Taylor\, and Hawkins. \nTheir second album The Burning was released in January 2020. (Teams of 2- 10 welcome\, you may be seated at shared tables) \nThe Zespri AIMS Games is Australasia’s largest junior sporting event\, held annually in Tauranga\, New Zealand. \nCelebrating diversity\, the Games provides an opportunity for adolescents from all demographics and education contexts to compete in sporting competitions\, to meet others from outside their normal peer group\, and to learn and build on their social interaction skills. The Zespri AIMS Games is highly regarded by national education and sporting organisations and is considered a leader in its area. \nSince its inception in 2004\, the Zespri AIMS Games have grown from 760 competitors representing 17 schools and four sporting codes\, to the 2023 tournament which had 11\,733 competitors\, representing 373 schools and 25 sporting codes. It is remarkable to see a concept that Tauranga locals had\, evolve into an event that in 2023 had 2.7% more athletes than the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. \nEven with this outstanding growth\, the Zespri AIMS Games continues to be largely delivered by Tauranga locals and is successfully hosted within the region using existing public sport and recreation facilities.
