The Gig is a farewell gig for the bassist Jake Ellis\, as he is moving on from the band to pursue University elsewhere.The Birds are a five piece band from Tāmaki Makaurau who specialise in the rock funk genre\, sharing the likes of Aotearoa legends Supergroove. The Birds achieved 1st place at the Smokefree Rockquest North Shore Regional Finals in 2023 and won the ZM Best Song Award in 2024 for their song Refrain. Their debut EP Nothing Special highlights the energetic and engaging sound that The Birds bring to Aotearoa’s Indie Music Scene. \nThe Birds will be joined by KENZY and her backing band\, alongside FivePM. \n17 year old singer/songwriter KENZY\, from Tāmaki Makaurau\, brings a fresh air of indie pop to the stage with a unique acoustic twist\, influenced by her long standing love for pop and indie folk music. Whangaparoa with special guests Sunshine Soundsystem\, Israel Starr & Riddim Cartel on Saturday January 25th from 7.00PM- 11.00PM. \nThe Salmonella Dub SoundSystem officially began 25 years ago – playing their new dub plates from Dreadzone and Mad Professor on a tour Salmonella Dub was managing for Pitch Black’s debut album playing new releases and remixes at dance party festivals with dubplate album launch tours in the stripped back dancefloor friendly version of the live band. \nFrom humble beginnings promoting and playing after parties\, the Salmonella Dub SoundSystem developed into a powerhouse live dance act across the NZ & Oz festival and club circuit.
