THE BIRDS WITH SPEICAL GUESTS KENZY AND FIVE PM – 26TH JAN!

The Birds are playing a headline show at Paraoa Brewing in Whangaparaoa. The Gig is a farewell gig for the bassist Jake Ellis, as he is moving on from the band to pursue University elsewhere.The Birds are a five piece band from Tāmaki Makaurau who specialise in the rock funk genre, sharing the likes of Aotearoa legends Supergroove. The Birds achieved 1st place at the Smokefree Rockquest North Shore Regional Finals in 2023 and won the ZM Best Song Award in 2024 for their song Refrain. Their debut EP Nothing Special highlights the energetic and engaging sound that The Birds bring to Aotearoa’s Indie Music Scene.

The Birds will be joined by KENZY and her backing band, alongside FivePM.

17 year old singer/songwriter KENZY, from Tāmaki Makaurau, brings a fresh air of indie pop to the stage with a unique acoustic twist, influenced by her long standing love for pop and indie folk music. Her setlist is a collection of her original songs and a few well-loved covers, featuring her singles “Bad Again” and “Cavities”, which explore themes of grief, anxiety, and the excitement of romance. KENZY hopes to captivate the audience with her vulnerable lyrics and vocals which capture the essence of what it is to be a teenager today, creating an intimate atmosphere with the help of her band: Liam Beasley (electric guitar), Daniel Lees (bass) and Caleb Wright (drums).

FivePM are a rock band from the North Shore of Auckland, who blend multiple genres in their originals with a strong foundation in rock. Their energetic sound and versatile style have earned them a growing fanbase.
