VOXNOVA – 18TH AUG!
Since 1996 VoxNova takes inspiration from the movie Latcho Drom, tracing the journey of Indian travellers who settle in Andalusia, Spain and France. Many International musicians have left traces in the offering including Spanish Gitanos, French Jazz Manouche, Catalan Nuevo Flamenco and Vintage Latin jazz that conveys a joyful village-like atmosphere due to the Flamenco Rumba rhythm being based on the human heartbeat.
ALAN MacDONALD – Founder / Percussionist.
From Scotland, Alan has performed rock his teens, followed by Folk and Celtic genres before discovering the Cajon, a box-drum like instrument, from Peru, and is now closely associated with Flamenco due to its ability to imitate La Palmas, Flamenco hand clappin
JAMES SNEYD – Violin
James has travelled the world in his capacity of Mathematics Professor performing wherever he is located. James is highly skilled at any genre he adopts from Celtic, Country Rock, Manouche and Latin jazz. Audiences enjoy the blitzing music duels with the guitarist.
NIGEL GAVIN – Acoustic Jazz Guitar
From Long Island, New York, Nigel is a leading figure, locally and internationally. he has performed with well-known groups such as, Nairobi Trio, the Fondue Set, the Jews Brothers, the Blue Bottom Stompers, Gitbox Rebellion, now a long-term members of VoxNova.
AARON CODELL – Double Bass
Aaron has performed with jazz greats including Cleo Laine, Mark Murphy, George Coleman, Annie Crummer, Hello Sailor, King Kapisi, Caitlin Smith, Jan Hellriegel and Linn Lorkin, as well as theatrical productions and occasionally moonlights with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra.
